A beautiful place to take a walk, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

This is a beautiful place to take a walk. When I first visited the Morikami, more than 30 yeas ago, it was simply the Japanese house. A hidden treasure, so unexpected in Florida. It turns out that in the early 1900's a group of young Japanese farmers came to northern Boca Raton. They named their colony 'Yamato', an ancient name for Japan.

Ultimately, farming in Florida didn't work out for them, and they returned to Japan. But George Morikami donated the site to Palm Beach County, to become a park. Which means today there is a museum, tea room, cafe, and wonderful gardens.
